Are Christians and Jews Meant to Follow Prophet Muhammad According to the Qur’an?

This post is a refutation to prophet Muhammad  only being sent to the Arabs.

Many problems in the world is due to misinterpreting religions. You cannot interpret them however you like, and feed this interpretation to others. Unfortunately, this is what many non-Muslims do. You can’t really talk about something when you do not have some understanding of the contexts and concrete evidences.

There are only two ways in which a Christian and Jew can respond to claims that the Qur’an is the word of the One True God. They either accept or reject it.

Muhammad pbuh was the messenger sent to all of mankind, Arabs and non-Arabs (regardless of race or ethnicity). This is stated repeatedly in the Qur’an:

“Say, [O Muhammad], “O mankind, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all, [from Him] to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death.” So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered prophet, who believes in Allah and His words, and follow him that you may be guided.” [Qur’an, 7:158]

“And We have not sent you except comprehensively to mankind as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. But most of the people do not know. ” [Qur’an, 34:28]

He is the seal of the prophets, after whom there will be no prophet: “… [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets.” [Qur’an, 33:40]

What this means is that no messenger will come after him to change his laws or annul any part of his religion.

So Christians and Jews are required to follow him and to give up their laws and follow his laws. Whoever does not do that, Allah will punish him.

Allah promised each of his prophets that a last prophet would come with a great final law (i.e., the Qur’an). In some scriptures (e.g the Torah), this is referred to as ‘the promise’. That promise refers to Islam.

The previous nations were told about the coming of the prophet, Allah says: “And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel”? [Qur’an, 26:197]

This verse states that among the clear signs that pointed to the truth of prophet Muhammad pbuh and the truth of the message that he brought, was the fact that the Children of Israel knew that. It was recorded and written in their books, as Allah says:

“And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.” [Qur’an, 26:196]

The Qur’an tells us that Muhammad pbuh and his nation are to be found in previous divinely-revealed scriptures, and that the previous prophets gave glad tidings of his coming:

“And [recall, O People of the Scripture], when Allah took the covenant of the prophets, [saying], “Whatever I give you of the Scripture and wisdom and then there comes to you a messenger confirming what is with you, you [must] believe in him and support him.” [ Allah ] said, “Have you acknowledged and taken upon that My commitment?” They said, “We have acknowledged it.” He said, “Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses.” [Qur’an, 3:81]

Allah took the promise and covenant from every prophet that if Muhammad was sent during his lifetime, he would believe in him and abandon his own laws in order to follow his laws. Hence, we learn that he was known to each of the earlier prophets.

The news came to the Children of Israel via prophet Moses pbuh. Allah says:

“Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel… So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him – it is those who will be the successful.” [Qur’an, 7:157]

Allah tells us that Jesus foretold the coming of Muhammad pbuh:

“And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, “O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad.” But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, “This is obvious magic.” [Qur’an, 61:6]

*Prophet Muhammad’s prophetic Name, “Ahmed”, was found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, and it was mentioned precisely in the Qur’an for the Prophet to be foretold by this very Name, Ahmed.

Previous Holy books give clear descriptions of Prophet Muhammad’s attributes and qualities, yet the Jews rejected him out of envy and pride [2:146]

We believe that each subsequent law abrogated the law that came before it, in whole or in part.

Since the Prophet pbuh who spoke Arabic came to the Arabs first the Qur’an needed to be in Arabic. The Qur’an came to the Arabs because they had no warner before. They became the initial recipients of the final revelation of Allah to all people. Does this restrict his mission to the Arabic speaking people only? No.

The Qur’an protects one from going astray and against the hellfire for the one who adheres to it. Because the previous messages were connected to a particular time and specific nations, they were not eternal and would not abide, so Allah did not guarantee to preserve them. The task of preserving them was entrusted to the scholars of the nations to which they were sent [5:44]

But the Rabbis and Priests were unable to preserve their books. Some of them betrayed the trust by changing, altering and distorting them.
