The topic that I was asked to discuss is the errors of Zionism according to Christianity and Islam. Many, at least in the West, might find this article a curiosity at least. I believe that I have already addressed this subject to the best of my ability and is sufficient, however, I will add additional information.
I always reference both the Bible and Qur’an, as there are many Christians who oppose Christian Zionism. Despite the drastic differences concerning the status of Jesus pbuh, Christianity and Islam both agree on one thing, and that is the Antichrist. Hopefully this might give you food for thought.
Let’s begin with what Zionists use to support their beliefs and the evidence for Zionism:
And say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. There will be one king over all of them and they will never again be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms. [Ezekiel 37:21-22]
Among their beliefs are:
- The establishment of the state of Israel as a precursor of the coming of Christ.
- The peace process delays the promise of God.
- All of Jerusalem must be under Israeli control.
- Israel is blessed. Blessed are they who bless it, and cursed are they who curse it.
- The Palestinian Muslims (and all Arabs and Muslims in general) are followers of Satan and the enemies of God
- The Millennial reign will soon commence, but only after believers are suddenly caught up into heaven to meet the Lord while all the pagans are destroyed in the battle of Armageddon.
Evangelicals believe that there will be a golden age where Jesus pbuh reigns on Earth. However, before his return, there will be a tribulation where Christ defeats evil, but not after natural disasters, wars and the Antichrist devastate the world. After these tribulations, the people of the Mosaic covenant, including the Jews who will convert, will bring on the so-called golden age. They believe that with Jews reclaiming the Holy Land, they are bringing the world closer to the second coming of Christ and therefore play an important role in Christian prophecy.
They believe that the gathering of the remnant of Jews in the Holy Land is a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. When the so-called ‘chosen people’ were brought back, it is to rule the world from what would appear to be a restored biblical Holy State of Israel. For this reason, God gave them victory over the Arabs, and blesses whomever blesses them, and curses whomever curses them, and its destiny would finally be realised when God Himself returns to rule.
Christian Zionism is a movement that claims to be based on the Bible, but as we have seen, it is actually contrary to what the Bible teaches, as well as the Qur’an. They close their eyes to Israel’s shedding of innocent blood since they believe that their conduct is morally and spiritually justified in the context of the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy.
There are some Christians that know there are prophecies concerning a remnant of Jews who will gather in the Holy Land in the Last Age, revive their ancient Kingdom, and God will strike them with his wrath through a powerful nation who will gather together from the ends of the earth to attack them. This remnant has no covenant with God, since God has no permanent covenant with anybody unless they are steadfast in piety and obedience:
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham was tried by his Lord with commands and he fulfilled them. [ Allah ] said, “Indeed, I will make you a leader for the people.” [Abraham] said, “And of my descendants?” [ Allah ] said, “My covenant does not include the wrongdoers.” [Qur’an, 2:124]
I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. [Genesis, 17:7] Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine. [Exodus, 19:5]
There is also a sect of Jews who reject the establishment of a Jewish state. They claim that it is a violation of the divine law and a forewarning of the destruction of the Jewish people.
It is the ultimate lie, that God currently has a covenant with the Jews:
“But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.” [Hebrews, 8:6-7, 9]
“This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.” [Titus 1:13-14]
The Jews who have returned are mostly without faith. None of them are pious or holy except a few. It is one of the worst areas in the world for indecency, irreligion, crime, gambling, homosexuality, usury, and other major sins. The only part of the Bible they hold onto is that they are the God’s chosen people and the seed of Abraham. Christian Zionists say that in accordance with these prophecies, the Jews will believe in Christ at the time of his Second Coming so that the remnant will become holy.
God will return them to the Holy Land for judgment and punishment, so that God’s anger can be poured out on them. At that time they will be cast out and driven away from the Holy Land, and the pious who adhered to God’s covenant will be saved. This is what will happen on that day:
Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have all become dross, therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. As men gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there and melt you. Yes, I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you shall be melted in its midst. As silver is melted in the midst of a furnace, so shall you be melted in its midst; then you shall know that I, the Lord, have poured out My fury on you. [Ezekiel 22:19-22]
The prophecies describe their fate when that day arrives. Isaiah says that most of them will be exterminated and punished, except for a small number of them:
Behold, the Lord makes the earth empty and makes it a waste, distorts its surface and scatters abroad its inhabitants. And it shall be: as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master, the earth is defiled under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, and those who dwell in it are desolate. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left. [Isaiah 24:1-6]
The basic doctrine is that Israel has been a victim of terrorism and irrational hatred of Jews. It is a country that has sought peace at every turn and showed great restraint even when provoked. Recent developments in the region have produced results deemed beneficial both to American strategic interests and to Israeli expansionist goals as these acts of provocation intend to generate Arab hostility and thus to create pretexts for armed action.
The entire mentality of the Westerner has been carefully designed to be hostile towards Islam. They have been indoctrinated into these values to be a supporter of the New World Order and to understand that, they must fight against Islam if they wish to see its establishment.
It is for these reasons that Christian Zionists have blindly supported Israel – “Israel is our only ally/democracy in the Middle East,” “Allah is Satan“, “Muslims are evil”, and justify their inhumane treatment of the Muslim Palestinians.
In discussing this topic, it is crucially important to understand Islam’s view on the Antichrist. In Islam, the Antichrist or false Messiah is presented and described in language that is allegorical and symbolic.
The First World War was successfully used to dismember the Ottoman Empire and to ‘liberate’ the Holy Land. This ended up being a major help to the Zionists, because it paved the way to the British mandate and the eventual creation of Israel. The Ottomans also presented a major setback to the developed imperialist nations as it controlled most of the oil fields.
The 9/11 terrorist attack on America led the US and its allies to wage a series of wars (still in progress) to eventually impose total control over the world’s major oil resources that were not already controlled. You can read about the Antichrist and the connection with oil, in my article, here.
Allah warned us of a Christian and Jewish alliance that would later emerge in history [Qur’an, 5:51], and that emerged with the birth of the Christian and Jewish Zionist alliance that brought the Jews back to the Holy Land. It was not born Jewish, but is actually Christian in its origin and development. Its Jewish proponents came later and were secularists.
By no means, does this apply to all Christians and Jews, as Allah says in the Qur’an: They are not [all] the same; among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [in obedience], reciting the verses of Allah during periods of the night and prostrating [in prayer]. [Qur’an, 3:113] Therefore, its proponents comprise merely a section among them.
Prophet Muhammad pbuh informed us of an evil mastermind who will attempt to take control of the world and impose his oppressive dictatorship over the whole world and mislead and deceive mankind.
He informed us of one of the major signs of the Last Day would be Allah deceiving the Jews by raising and sending against them one who would impersonate the Messiah and lead them to believe that the Golden Age was returning. The Dajjal or the False Messiah, who is known by Christians as the Antichrist, was created by Allah and would be released into the world in the Last Age to accomplish this mission.
To successfully complete his mission, the Antichrist will:
- Have to liberate the Holy Land of non-Jewish rule.
- Bring the Jews back to the Holy Land from wherever they were scattered all over the earth.
- Restore the State of Israel.
- The State of Israel has to become the ruling State in the world.
When this happens then the Antichrist has accomplished his mission providing that the Jews are convinced that this is the return of the Golden Age. He explained some of the strategies the Antichrist would employ in order to fulfill this mission through which mankind would be enslaved and the rule of the world would fall to one people. In order to achieve that status it has to have control of the economy and money around the world.
Some Christians face difficulties identifying the Antichrist as a person, and as a Jew, because of several scriptural references to him:
I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the Antichrist. [2 John 1:7]
Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the Antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. [1 John 2:22]
This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. [1 John 4:2-3]
The view from Islam differs dramatically from other views, where some identified the Antichrist with the Pope, or Barak Obama, or with a system rather than a person, or the Muslim Mahdi.
Islam denies that Jesus is God; or Son of God, so certain Christians are expecting the Antichrist to be Muslim, since only Islam is Antichrist. Islam is not Antichrist, as Muslims believe in Jesus pbuh. It is certain Christians who deny that Muslims believe in the same Jesus as Christians, because they do not believe in the Qur’an, and its message that previous revelations were corrupted. Judaism completely rejects Jesus as God, Son of God as well as the Messiah. That makes it the only Antichrist religion since both Christians and Muslims believe in Jesus, and as the Messiah.
Some Jews accepted Jesus pbuh and believed in him but most of them rejected him. They still continue to reject him as the Messiah to this day. When the Jews saw Jesus pbuh ‘die’ on the cross, it confirmed to them that he was a false Messiah since the Torah itself had declared that whoever died by hanging was cursed by God:
You must not leave the body hanging on the pole overnight. Be sure to bury it that same day, because anyone who is hung on a pole is under God’s curse. You must not desecrate the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance. [Deuteronomy, 21:23]
But Allah declared in the Qur’an that the Jews were deceived into believing that Jesus pbuh was killed or crucified.
Secondly, he could not have been the Messiah because he died without liberating the Holy Land from the Roman rule, and he did not rule the world (i.e., from Jerusalem). And so they have kept on waiting for the Messiah to come.
