Why Muslims Don’t Believe in the Bible

The Qur’an declares that the Christian and Jewish scriptures of today are corrupt and not the original revelations sent to Moses, David and Jesus (peace be upon them).

The Qur’an restricts itself to making mention of corruption to only those previous scriptures that were revealed to the Israelite people (i.e., the Torah, Psalms and Injeel/Gospel).

The Qur’an accused the Israelites of corrupting the previous revelations with their own hands [2:752:77-792:59], as well as distoring scripture with their tongues [3:785:13].

When a Christian or Jew finds a conflict between them, they are advised to compare the authenticity and integrity of the competing texts that are in contradiction with each other in order to locate the truth.

There are only two ways Christians and Jews can respond to the claim of the Qur’an that it is the true Word of God. They either accept it or reject it.

Allah warned us in the Qur’an that the previous divinely revealed scriptures were changed by corrupt men and the biggest lie told against God is that He begot a son.

The Qur’an confirms the belief in Jesus (as) as the Messiah, but warns Christians that they have angered Allah with their declaration that Jesus is the Son of God.

The false belief in Jesus as the son of God constitutes part of a larger falsehood, i.e., belief in the trinity.

The Qur’an also declares that Jesus (as) did not die on the cross. What really happened to him on that day?

The Qur’an also denies that Jesus (as) was sent to all of mankind.

Another Christian belief that Islam claims is false, is that Satan is not a fallen angel.

It is also commonly believed that the Jews are God’s Chosen people. Islam claims this is false.

The Qur’an also tells us that the Israelites corrupted the scripture to deliberately exclude Ishmael (as) from God’s covenant.

The Israelites also slandered him as a “wild ass of a man” (Genesis, 16:12) and changed the conditions of inheritance of the Holy Land.

The Qur’an also tells us that the Israelites rewrote the Torah to make it permissible for money to be lent on interest to non-believers while maintaining the prohibition against usury in intra-Israelite transactions [Deuteronomy, 23:20-21], when Allah made usury haram (i.e., prohibited) [4:161].

As we read in the Bible, about a week before their attempt to crucify Jesus (except Allah miraculously saved him), he went into the temple (masjid) and found them engaged in usury. He cursed them, overturned the tables [Matthew 21:12], and chased out whoever was buying and selling there.

Jesus (as) then spoke to the crowd: “It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves” [Luke 19]. The same incident is recorded in Mark 11.

They falsely accused a righteous Prophet, Lot (as), of becoming drunk and impregnating his own two daughters one after the other (Genesis 19:30–38).

Allah responded by cleansing Lot (as) of the evil filth that had been smeared on him:

And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds (including homosexuality). Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. (21:74-75).

These are just some of the many corruptions and distortions that the Qur’an claims had occured.
