Christian missionaries from all over the world are deceptively targeting gullible Muslims in order to convert them to Christianity.
One of their main arguments raised against Islam is the Qur’an affirms the preservation of the Torah and Gospel that Christians and Jews have in their hands today.
In almost every discussion, they assert that the Qur’an asks Muslims to believe in the Bible (NT) as a revelation of God. They point out that the Bible contradicts the Qur’an, and since Muslims are required to believe in it, it logically follows that the Bible is true and the Qur’an is false.
They quote a verse of the Qur’an that has been taken entirely out of context to discredit Islam. Their objective is to create as much doubt in Muslims minds about Islam and lead them away from their faith.
In a recent video published by David Wood and Sam Shamoun, it presents a perfect example of taking a verse out of context to mislead their ignorant and gullible audience. Let’s talk about the verses in question:
“Like as We sent down on the dividers, those who made the Qur’an into shreds.” [15:90-91] – They shredded the Qur’an, they tore up the Qur’an. They distorted the Qur’an. They mutilated the Qur’an.
When is the last time you heard a Muslim bring up Chapter 15, verse 90-91 in their discussion about the preservation of the Qur’an?”
Allah swt gives a warning not to study any verse of the Qur’an in isolation as it will fail to deliver the correct interpretation of such verses. He has condemned those who divide the Qur’an (as well as the recipients of the previously divinely-revealed scriptures who did the same) into arbitrary parts and believe in certain parts of it and reject other parts. To give a clearer understanding of the meaning of the verses, Allah says:
“And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them]… [2:83]… [saying], “Do not shed your [i.e., each other’s] blood or evict one another from your homes.” Then you acknowledged [this] while you were witnessing. [2:84] Then, you are those [same ones who are] killing one another and evicting a party of your people from their homes, cooperating against them in sin and aggression. And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, although their eviction was forbidden to you. So do you believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve in part?…. [2:85]
These verses have nothing to do with written corruption or even literally shredding the Qur’an. Allah swt is warning us about the dangers of reading a verse in isolation, and accepting one part and rejecting another part. He will question those who do on Judgment day.
