John MacArthur – Islam and the Antichrist Refuted

John MacArthur explains in this abbreviated sermon about the Muslim Jesus, the Mahdi, the Anitchrist and the establishment of Islam on the Earth.

He made a very interesting point, “There always are false prophets, always false teachers, we all know that….” Is he right? Yes, as a false teacher himself, he knows this is a fact. From someone claiming to be citing from the Qur’an and Sunnah, how could he get this all wrong?

We are going to explore what Islam really teaches about the Antichrist, instead of the deliberately twisted and distored version of events John MacArthur preachers to his followers.

“Let me describe the Muslim Jesus to you. This is out of their own writings, the Qur’an and the Sunnah. The Qur’an is supposedly the word of Allah, actually the word of Satan, but they think it’s the word of Allah.”

My response:

If Allah is Satan, why would He warn us not to worship him? The dialogue between Allah and Satan clearly proves that they are two separate entities. Using the Bible to prove Allah is Satan is not conclusive evidence since the Qur’an asserts the Bible is corrupt. The authorship of the Qur’an speaks for itself [39:1, 10:37].

It is quite clear that Allah is not Satan:

“(Iblees (Satan)) said: “O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. “Except Your chosen, (rightly guided) slaves among them.” [15:39-40]

Allah has made it clear to mankind that Satan is our enemy:

“… and follow not the footsteps of Satan. Surely he is to you an open enemy.” [6:142]

Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan – [for] indeed, he is to you a clear enemy – And that you worship [only] Me? This is a straight path. And he had already led astray from among you much of creation, so did you not use reason?” [36:60-62]

“Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you, so take him as an enemy. He only invites his followers that they may become the dwellers of the blazing Fire.” [35:6]

“O Children of Adam! Let not Satan deceive you, as he got your parents Adam and Eve out of Paradise” [7:27]

“O mankind… Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allah by the Deceiver.” [31:33]

“In their system they have Jesus. Jesus was a man, he was not God. He did not die, he went to heaven like Elijah. He did not die, therefore he did not rise. He is a man. He is a prophet. He is nothing more. He went to heaven like Elijah. And he’s in heaven right now, standing alongside Allah, waiting for Allah to send him back.

Now the question to ask, is why would Allah want to send Jesus back? He has a lot of prophets to pick from, why does he send Jesus back?”

My response:

The Qur’an declared that the Jews did not kill Jesus [4:157] Secondly, Allah reclaimed him (i:e., took his soul) [3:55]. If Allah took the soul of Jesus and did not return it, then that would have constituted death. The Qur’an affirms that Allah does return some souls after having taken them from the body [39:42].

This took place in the case of Jesus, Allah took the soul while he was still on the cross, thus convincing those who were observing the event to believe that Jesus was dead. He returned his soul after he was taken down from the cross and when no one was around to observe. He was then taken up into the heavens.

Since Allah has declared that every soul must taste death [3:185], this means Jesus must return and experience death like every other human being, but before he dies, every Christian and Jew will have to believe in him [4:159] and abandon their belief in Jesus as ‘God’, the ‘Son of God’ and the third person in a trinity.

He also has an important mission upon his return – to kill the Dajjal, the False Messiah or Antichrist as known by Christians.

“Answer…so that when he shows up he can correct all the Christians who have misunderstood who he is. The sources for this, again, are the Koran and the Sunnah. …He’ll come back and straighten it out.”

My response:

The Islamic perspective is that Satan’s ultimate goal is to make mankind go astray and eventually turn them into disbelievers or polytheists at a minimum. Allah tells us that Satan misleads mankind [15:39-40] by making them disobey His commands to divert them to the hell fire in the hereafter, which will also be Satan’s abode [35:6]. Committing all the major sins are the work of Satan to corrupt mankind and drive people from following the way of God [7:16-17] and drag them to hell with him.

Allah will ask Jesus on the day of Judgement: And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, “O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, ‘Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?'” He will say, “Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. [5:116]

“In Islamic eschatology, there are three great signs of the end of history…three great signs. And each of them is a man. Let me tell you about those three men. First of all, the first man that will come in the end of history is the Mahdi…M-a-h-d-i. Sometimes he’s called the Twelfth Imam.

What is he coming to do? He’s coming, listen carefully, to slaughter all who will not worship Allah, convert to Islam. They are identified in their writings as pigs and dogs. And to establish the everlasting world dominating kingdom of Islam. That’s what he will do.”

My response:

The Muslim view is that Jesus pbuh, the true Messiah, and not the Mahdi, will return to life on earth one day and will rule the world from Jerusalem as a just ruler:

“Narrated Abu Hurairah: Allah’s Messenger said: ‘By Him in Whose Hand is my soul (I swear that) the son of Mary will shortly descend amongst you as a just ruler (NOT AS A RADICAL MUSLIM!). He will break the cross and kill the pigs and abolish Jizyah. Then there will be abundance of money and nobody will accept charitable gifts.” [Sahih, Bukhari]

The end of Christianity does not mean Christians will be killed. It means that Christians will recognise the truth that came with Islam. The Mahdi will not force conversions. He will appear shortly before the second coming of Jesus. He will be the leader of the Muslims before Jesus returns. Together they will fight against the Antichrist and defeat him, which will signal the beginning of an era of faith, peace, and justice on earth.

“Let me summarize. The Mahdi will be a messianic figure. He will be a descendant of Mohammed. He will be an unparalleled, unequaled leader. He will come out of a crisis of turmoil. He will take control of the world. He will establish a new world order. He will destroy all who resist him. He will invade many nations. He will make a seven-year peace treaty with the Jews. He will conquer Israel and massacre the Jews. He will establish Islamic world headquarters at Jerusalem. He will rule for seven years, establish Islam as the only religion. He will come on a white horse with supernatural power. He will be loved by all people on earth.

According to their holy writings, the Mahdi will bring rain and wind and crops and wealth and happiness so that all will love him and no one will speak of anyone but him. Their writings say the Mahdi will come and make, at first, a peace agreement with the Jews and the west for seven years. The reign of Mahdi will last seven years in which he establishes Islam on the earth.”

My response:

He completely twisted everything around. Gog and Magog will take control of the world (21:95-96) on behalf of Dajjal (the Antichrist) who will eventually make his appearance in the world to declare that he is the Messiah and will rule the world from Jerusalem in an impostor State of Israel. Christian and Islamic eschatology agree on this. Jesus and a Muslim army will conquer Jerusalem and liberate the Holy Land. Jesus will then rule the world from Jerusalem (Muslim rule will be restored).

The powers of the dajjal (the Antichrist) system:

The Antichrist, NOT the Mahdi, will bring rain, wind and crops:

“….He would then give command to the sky and there would be rainfall upon the earth and it would grow crops…. …He would then come to another people and invite them. But they would reject him and he would go away from them and there would be drought for them and nothing would be left with them in the form of wealth. He would then walk through the waste, land and say to it: Bring forth your treasures, and the treasures would come out and collect (themselves) before him like the swarm of bees (This refers to the discovery of oil and so many other treasures of the earth)…”

  • The evil that will rule the earth will corrupt both land and sea. This is happening through the ample pollution and climate changes.
  • He’ll command the sky to rain, and it will rain.  And he will command the sky to cause drought, and it will cause drought (Chemtrails} HAARP).
  • He’ll be able to bring the dead back to life.
  • His symbol will be that he will be one-eyed. Dajjal is blind in his right eye, i.e., spiritually blind (for the purpose of accomplishing his mission). All those who are deceived by him would themselves become spiritually blind and hence would be incapable of seeing and recognising the signs of Allah in the Last Age
  • He’ll control the entire world. He’ll come with water and fire with him. And his bliss here on earth will lead to the doom of hell, and his hell here on earth will lead to the eternal bliss of paradise.

After Dajjal appears in person, it is then that Imam Mahdi will appear:

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Holy Prophet (saw) said: “What will be your condition when the son of Mary will come down to you and your Imam will be from amongst you.” [Sahih Bukhari]

Dajjal would attack the Imam in Damascus, and Jesus will then descend and kill Dajjal. A Muslim army will then defeat the Jews. Jesus will rule the world from the Islamic State that will be established in the Holy Land. This is also confirmed by the Prophet pbuh in the following Hadith:

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet pbuh said: “Black banners shall emerge from Khorasan, and no force will be able to stop them until they are inserted in Jerusalem.” [Sunan Tirmidhi]

“Let me quote what their literature says. “He will shatter crosses.” That’s metaphoric for the destruction of the church, a symbol of Christianity being placed in the church. He will kill pigs. He will abolish the tax on non-Muslims because there won’t be any living non-Muslims, can’t tax dead people. And then he will do one more thing. He will kill the Islamic Antichrist. Then he will die and be buried by Mohammed, but not until he has destroyed Christianity by revealing who he really is.

Who is this? You compare what he does to the false prophet in the book of Revelation, chapter 13, 16, 19, 20 refer to the beast coming out of the earth, the false prophet, who aids and abets the Antichrist. He is as the Mahdi is the exact replica of the Antichrist, the Jesus prophet in Islam is the exact parallel to the false prophet who aids and abets the Antichrist.”

My response:

The beast of the earth (27:82) is the State of Israel. Earth in this context refers to the Holy Land. Contrary to John Macarthur’s false teaching, Christianity and Islam both indicate that the Antichrist will be a Jew.
